Lando Norris, world champion of Formula 1 2025, experienced an unforgettable moment during his celebration on the balcony of the iconic Goodwood House, during the Festival of Speed. At this event, the McLaren driver recalled his childhood and the aspirations that led him to become one of the best drivers of his generation.
Before the celebration, Norris drove the McLaren MCL60 up the famous Goodwood hill climb, parking the car in front of the house and being guided to the balcony by the Duke of Richmond. “It’s amazing. I was here with Valentino yesterday, my childhood hero,” he shared with attendees during an interview with Sky Sports analyst Karun Chandhok.
The driver expressed his gratitude for being able to fulfill his childhood dream: “Thirteen or 14 years ago I came here with my brother and my dad. I wanted to be like those drivers, I thought. And now, 13 years later, I’m here in front of all of you, carrying number one and representing McLaren,” he said excitedly.
After an intense battle throughout the season with his teammate, Oscar Piastri, and with former champion Max Verstappen, Norris secured his first world title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025. Amid the celebrations, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on the 2026 season.
Stella commented: “Let’s not forget where we came from. We have gone from almost finishing last to being world champions. Now we want to keep repeating those results and see Lando and Oscar fighting for the championship again.” Currently, Norris and Piastri occupy fifth and sixth positions in the drivers’ championship, with 97 and 82 points respectively, positioning McLaren in third place in the constructors’ championship with 179 points.
