The last three vacant GP2 seats will be filled by Lancaster, Daly and Jefferies at least in the first round, which will take part in Bahrain this weekend.
Jon Lancaster joins MP Motorsport, where he will be Daniel de Jong’s teammate. The Briton will race his third year in the series, although he couldn’t participate in a full season yet. In 2013, he got two wins plus a third place finish and he was 11th in the standings.
Conor Daly comes back to GP2 with Lazarus, partnering Nathanael Berthon, after making his debut in the series in Sepang last year although he raced in GP3 in 2013. The American got a win plus five podium finishes and was third in the championship.
Axcil Jefferies will make his debut in the championship with Trident, with Johnny Cecotto as his teammate. The African comes from Indy Lights, where he only raced twice in 2013. In 2012 he raced in the former Formula 2 championship after being inactive during two and a half years, finishing 12th in the standings.
