KZ2: Bas Lammers holds off Tony Kart drivers

Bas Lammers was the big winner of the weekend with his victory in the final of WSK Final Cup first round at South Garda Karting Circuit (Lonato, Brescia, Italy). The Dutchman endured the pressure of Tony Kart’s Puhakka and Ardigo.

In this weekend in KZ2 category there has been an exciting duel between Sodi and Tony Kart. In addition, Formula 2 driver Alessio Lorandi (Baby Race Driver Academy) was present on the track.

French Anthony Abasse (SodiKart) achieved the pole position for Sodi to start the weekend in a very tight classification in which the first 8 were only distanced by 0.088 seconds.

Sodi had the lead during Friday and Saturday qualifyings with Bass Lammers (SodiKart) winning all the races even starting from third place. Behind the Dutch, Matteo Viganò (Tony Kart Racing Team) was the best of the qualifying with a constant performance and Emilien Denner (CRG) was second in the standings.

The Sunday morning pre-final was quite important, with a Bas Lammers in the lead enduring the attacks of Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart Racing Team), who did a spectacular driving class to start in pole position in the final.

KZ2 final was one of the most exciting finals of the weekend. Lammers was the poleman, but Ardigò was able to pass him in the second lap and he led the group for two laps until the Dutchman overtook him again.

Ardigò tried to overtake Sodi’s driver again but he didn’t have luck and was overtaken by his teammate, the finn Simo Puhakka who was also attacking Lammers.

But the SodiKart driver endured the attacks of both drivers to win the race. He has the only one who beat the impressive Tony Kart Racing Team performance with Puhakka second, Ardigò third, Viganò fourth and Alessio Piccini ninth after a collision in first lap.

So, Bas Lammers achieved full points for extend his championship lead. The Dutchman leaves Lonato with 90 points, 44 more than Ardigò and 45 more than Puhakka. Emilien Denner is placed in fourth with 60 points. The next round of the championship will be in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia) from Novembrer 8 to 11.
