To everyone’s surprise, Daniil Kvyat will drive for Toro Rosso Formula 1 team after getting a spectacular season in the FIA F3 and still fighting for the championship in GP3 (he is second, 7 points behind the leader).
Russia has now returned to have drivers in F1, and many thought that the driver who would be signed by Toro Rosso was Antonio Felix da Costa, but the Portuguese has not done well this year with five consecutive races without scoring, not to mention the painful weekend that he had in the World Series by Renault in Barcelona.
Daniil Kvyat however, as mentioned earlier, is doing an incredible season finale, and also a great season in Formula 3 as a guest driver.
The news was made known in a statement in Servus TV, by Helmut Marko, from Toro Rosso and Red Bull Junior Team: “If a young driver shows talent, passion and a way of working, give it a try. We have therefore chosen Kvyat “
