KTM has officially announced the incorporation of riders Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio to its MotoGP team starting from the 2027 season. This decision comes in the context of recent pilot confirmations following the Concorde Agreement.

Marquez, who was the MotoGP world runner-up in 2025, leaves behind four years with Gresini Racing, where he achieved four victories, revitalizing a career that seemed stagnant during his years with Honda. His arrival at KTM follows the loss of their star rider, Pedro Acosta, who has decided to sign with Ducati.

KTM’s sporting director, Pit Beirer, expressed his satisfaction in securing a talent like Marquez, highlighting his excellent skill, intelligence on track, and competitive mindset. Beirer pointed out the goal of working together to improve the KTM RC16 at the start of the 850cc engine era.

In addition to Alex Marquez, KTM has also confirmed Di Giannantonio as the second rider of the team. The Italian currently competes with Ducati and will join KTM for the upcoming season. Beirer praised Di Giannantonio’s consistency and commitment, who was already Marquez’s teammate in 2023 with Gresini.

Despite these signings, KTM must immediately resolve certain technical issues that have affected their MotoGP prototypes. They have detected that excessive vibrations can cause the electronic control unit to enter emergency mode, shutting down the bike’s power source. This situation was evident during the Catalonia Grand Prix when Acosta’s bike lost power while accelerating, resulting in an incident with Marquez.
