Kimi Raikkonen goes back to Ferrari in 2014

Ferrari has announced that Kimi Raikkonen, the last Champion for the Scuderia in 2007, will be Fernando Alonso’s team-mate in 2014.

It has been an intense rumour during the last few weeks, but now it’s official: Raikkonen will be back to the team that gave him his first and only World Championship substituting Felipe Massa, his team-mate back then. He has decided on Ferrari after the negociations with Red Bull and Lotus, his current team, were not successful.

His last season with the team was back in 2009, before being fired in spite of having a contract for the following season so that Alonso could join the team. It is going to be the first time since 1953 that Ferrari will have two World-Champion drivers. We’ll se how they manage the situation in a season with such big changes like 2014, where nobody is certain to be on top.

It was also said that Hulkenberg could join the Italian team, even that a contract had been signed and would have been validated if they hadn’t reached an agreement with Raikkonen. It seems that the German driver could end up in Lotus, but lots of drivers and teams still have to make up their minds about their future.
