Kevin Magnussen’s debut in NASCAR: a new stage in his motorsport journey

The Danish driver Kevin Magnussen embarks on a new adventure in the world of motorsport with his debut in NASCAR. He currently competes full-time in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) but seeks to explore new experiences in this North American discipline.

Magnussen, with a notable career as a former Formula 1 participant, reveals his excitement about racing in NASCAR. “The feeling of being part of this community, seeing my name alongside NASCAR legends, is a great challenge,” he commented at a recent press conference at NAS North Island. He added that, despite never having driven a NASCAR car, he sees this challenge as a great opportunity for him.

With a career mostly linked to the Haas F1 team, Magnussen has a particular connection to the world of NASCAR through his link with Stewart-Haas Racing. He has attended several events related to the team, thus cultivating his admiration for one of the most popular categories in motorsport.

His father, Jan Magnussen, had a previous experience in NASCAR, which influenced Kevin’s interest in this competition. “I have always had a fascination for NASCAR,” he expressed. “My experience with my father has been important, and participating in a NASCAR race is a great privilege.”

The opportunity to debut arose when the owner of Trackhouse Racing, Justin Marks, reached out to him. Magnussen accepted immediately, with the support of BMW, his current sponsor.

As he progresses in his career, the Danish driver expresses that he feels more open to new experiences: “Now that I have closed the door on F1, I feel free to explore other forms of motorsport. There is no discipline that I wouldn’t be willing to try.” His positive mindset and eagerness to learn will be a great asset as he embarks on this new stage in NASCAR.
