The third and final day of post-season testing for Formula Regional Europe highlighted the figure of Kenzo Craigie, driver of the Mercedes-AMG F1 junior team, who achieved the best time of the day.
Scott Lindblom, from Van Amersfoort Racing, outperformed Craigie during the afternoon session with a time of 1m26.025s, but no driver was able to improve on their morning records in this slower session.
Craigie set a new personal best, dropping below 1m26s after 18 minutes of the morning session, before his teammate Oleksandr Bondarev took the top spot.
Over the next thirty minutes, the times were successively improved, with drivers Dries Van Langendonck, Rocco Coronel, Kasper Schormans, Lindblom, and Ty Fisher taking turns at the lead.
Van Langendonck appeared to set a new record with 1m25.093s at the hour, but Craigie responded with five consecutive laps under 1m25.5s, ultimately achieving a time of 1m25.066s that solidified him as the leader.
As a result, Van Langendonck and Coronel took second and third places respectively, followed by Lindblom and Schormans, while Bondarev positioned himself in sixth place.
Driver Alex Ninovic from Rodin Motorsport, and Miguel Costa, who was competing with CL Motorsport, finished behind the R-ace GP driver, despite their efforts to stand out. Jensen Burnett surprised by taking the tenth position, despite not having participated in Tuesday’s sessions, with a competitive time equal to Costa’s, in fifth position.
RPM also experienced changes in its lineup, with drivers Marcus Saeter and Teo Borenstein joining Emily Cotty. Drivers Felipe Reijs and Kabir Anurag made way for the newcomers.
Lindblom dominated the afternoon session, improving his best time three times during the first fifteen minutes. In the end, his best lap could not be surpassed, finishing just 0.086s behind Craigie.
After six days of official testing, expectations for the 2027 season appear very promising, with a remarkable generation of rookie drivers looking to make a name for themselves in this exciting competition.
