Kenny Wallace, a veteran of NASCAR, has shared his experience at Nürburgring, a circuit known as the ‘real green hell’. At 62 years old, Wallace has continued to seek new thrills behind the wheel and recently participated in a track day at the distinctive German layout.
The third brother of the famous Wallace family, Kenny, has not only competed in NASCAR, where he began his career in 1988, but he is also an experienced dirt track racer. This week, he had the chance to drive a 405-horsepower BMW M2 around the 20.8 kilometers of the famous Nordschleife section of the circuit.
In a video shared on social media, Wallace spared no praise regarding the experience, stating that “if you think Darlington is the circuit that’s too tough to master, this is undoubtedly the most terrifying one I’ve ever been to.” He compared his experience on the track to a “hallway,” emphasizing its narrowness.
After completing several laps, he remarked that the 13 miles of the circuit seemed never-ending and felt overwhelmed being overtaken by both competition vehicles and passenger cars. Despite having battled on iconic tracks like Daytona and Talladega, Wallace found that the complexity and risks of Nürburgring surpassed everything he had previously experienced.
He even insisted that tracks like Suzuka or Road America hadn’t generated the same level of adrenaline, asserting that Nürburgring is a challenge that any driver should experience. Wallace signed up to race six laps, turning his visit into a memorable motorsport adventure.
