Katherine Legge, one of the few women who has competed in NASCAR, will return to drive in the NASCAR Cup this weekend at Watkins Glen International. The driver, who has a long track record in IndyCar and IMSA, will pilot the Chevrolet number 78 from Live Fast Motorsports.
Legge, 45, is recognized for an important role in the world of motorsport, and her return will mark her first appearance of the 2026 season after seven races run the previous year, all with the same team. The brand E.l.f. Cosmetics will assist her in this competition.
During her previous season, Legge achieved two finishes in the top twenty, highlighting a 17th place at the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which was the best result for the team on non-drafting tracks.
Legge has prior experience at Indianapolis, where she has been present in four editions of the Indy 500. In fact, she will also participate in the 110th edition of the Indy 500 later this month, driving for HMD Motorsports and AJ Foyt Racing.
Regarding her history at Watkins Glen, Legge competed in the Cup race last summer, finishing in 36th place. Additionally, her career in IMSA has given her plenty of laps at this circuit, where she achieved a win in the GTD class during the Six Hours of The Glen in 2017.
So far, of the seven races she has run in NASCAR, five have been on road courses or city tracks, with her best performance on an urban circuit, finishing 19th in the Chicago Street Course.
For Live Fast Motorsports, this will be the fourth race of the season. The team finished 41st in the Daytona 500 with BJ McLeod and 35th in Atlanta the following week. Daniel Dye made his Cup debut with the team, finishing 24th at Talladega.
