Justin Allgaier will take control of the number 48 car from Hendrick Motorsports during the upcoming NASCAR Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This decision comes after Alex Bowman must continue his recovery from vertigo, a condition that has prevented him from racing.

Bowman was forced to withdraw from the competition during the race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and, after a medical review, he has been diagnosed with vertigo. The team’s general manager, Jeff Andrews, has confirmed that Bowman is actively working with doctors to fully recover before returning to the car.

Allgaier, who regularly competes in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series with JR Motorsports, recently achieved his 29th victory. He has accumulated over 500 starts in the lower NASCAR categories and has Cup experience, having competed in 84 races from 2013 to 2026. His last appearance in the NASCAR Cup was in the Daytona 500.

Additionally, Allgaier has not raced at the Las Vegas track since 2015, but he did win the O’Reilly race at this circuit last year. His inclusion in the team represents an opportunity for both him and Hendrick Motorsports while awaiting Bowman’s recovery.
