Jorge Martín out of the race for the Australian Grand Prix after a fracture

After a spectacular accident during the sprint race, MotoGP rider Jorge Martín has been declared unfit to participate in the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place at Phillip Island. This setback represents a major blow to his title aspirations.

The young Spanish rider, who was competing at a high level of competitiveness, suffered a fracture in the radius and a possible fracture in the ulna, the other bone in the forearm, according to the initial studies conducted at the medical clinic of the circuit.

Following the incident, which occurred at high speed, Martín was immediately transported to the medical center of the circuit. The results of the X-rays showed the severity of the injury, and as a result, he will be unable to take part in Sunday’s race.

The Aprilia team issued a statement indicating that Martín will undergo a CT scan in Melbourne to determine the full extent of his injury. If the radius fracture does not show displacement, his goal would be to try to compete in Sepang. Otherwise, Martín would travel to Spain for surgery.

During the race, Martín was engaged in an intense battle for the lead against Marc Márquez, at which point he fell from second place. The end of the race led him to lose his leading position in the championship, now placing him 10 points behind his Ducati rival.

Despite the disappointment, Martín remains optimistic. ‘It’s a shame about this fall. It was a complicated moment, but I’m okay,’ the rider commented, who hopes that the medical tests will provide him with positive news to continue competing.
