Dutch driver Joey Alders, karting champion in the Netherlands, will step-up to single-seaters this year, on which he will join Van Amersfoort Racing for the upcoming ADAC F4 season.
Van Amersfoort racing has confirmed its first driver for the next German ADAC F4 season. It will be the Dutch driver Joey Alders, who joins the team to make his single-seater debut after succeding in karting in his home country.
Alders, aged 18, became DD2 champion of the Dutch Rotax karting championship last year. These results called the attention of Van Amersfoort Racing, who lined him up for the F4 winter testing sessions at the Barcelona-Catalunya and Ricardo Tormo circuits. His performance on those tests impressed the team and now he is joining them to make his full-time debut on the series.
“It is good to see that talents from karting find their way into single seater racing.” Said Jeroen De Jong, team principal of the Van Amersfoort Racing F4 team. “Joey made a strong impression during the test days. Especially considering the fact that he never was behind the steering wheel of a Formula 4 car before. We are looking forward to accompany Joey in his ambition to succeed in motorsport.”

Racing with a Netherlands based team as a Dutchman makes it even more special. I want to be directly competitive. The 2018 ADAC Formula 4 season, which will consists of seven rounds with three races each, will go underway the weekend between the 13th and the 15th of April in Oschersleben.
