It’s being a hard beginning of the pre-season testing for Red Bull. Their car, driven today by Daniel Ricciardo, has stopped on track right after coming out and they’ve just been able to do 3 laps at the moment.
Today was the first day on their new car for 6 drivers: Ricciardo (Red Bull), Alonso (Ferrari), Hülkenberg (Force India), Massa (Williams), Sutil (Sauber) and Frijns (test driver for Caterham).
The first red flag came out after the Spaniard stopped his Ferrari on track. It wasn’t an important problem, as he has been able to go back on track some minutes later and set the second fastest time, behind Button. Kevin Magnussen will take over his seat this afternoon. After them comes Hamilton, who’s been able to do 45 laps, compensating for his accident on Tuesday.
As we’ve said already, Red Bull is still having serious problems after his engine has failed to work properly once again. Daniel Ricciardo has had to stop his car right after he came out to the track and after that he’s just been able to do two more laps, none setting time. The only Renault-powered team with a timed lap today is the Toro Rosso, but it’s been a quite slow one. However, the Italian team has been able to do more than 20 laps so far. Just 8 for Caterham.
The third red flag appeared after Hülkenberg stopped his Force India with just 6 laps done. The Sauber and the Williams are having no problems so far.
