Lewis Hamilton took the top spot in a close battle against Lando Norris in FP2 of F1 Italian GP, with Carlos Sainz ending up third.
It was not a smooth run again in FP2 of F1 Italian GP at Monza. There were offs for many drivers whether it was Turn 1 or the Lesmo or Parabolica. But the big one happened with Haas’ Kevin Magnussen when he crashed out after a spin at Lesmo.
It happened midway in the session which ended his run. The running was limited for the likes of Mercedes’ George Russell and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez too. The Brit had to wait for his car to be repaired due to Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s off in FP1.
The Mexican also spent a lot of time in the garage due to undisclosed repair work. At the front, it was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton on top with a 1m20.738s lap where he finished 0.003s quicker than McLaren’s Lando Norris in a British 1-2.
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz was not far off in third from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in fifth from Russell, who did a late quick lap on the soft compound. The other Haas of Nico Hulkenberg was seventh from Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo.
The Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll rounded out the Top 10, with Kick Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas in a good place in 11th from Magnussen, whose time hung on in 12th ahead of Williams’ Alexander Albon abd the Red Bull pair.
Max Verstappen was only 14th but had issues on the soft compound running, which is why he set his best time on the medium tyre. Perez was only 15th after repair work, with Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda was 16th from Williams’ Franco Colapinto.
The Alpine pair of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon were 18th and 19th where the former did not manage to set a good lap time on the soft tyere. The 20 runners were rounded out by Kick Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu, who dropped off from his teammate.
