Swiss driver Ethan Ischer won celebrated a double at the series’ premiere on the Hungaroring
Ethan Ischer came, saw, and conquered. The Jenzer Motorsport driver was the dominating force at the inaugural race weekend of the ACCR Czech Formula, the new Formula 4 Series for Central and Eastern Europe.
At the season opener on the notorious Hungaroring, Ischer took the pole and triumphed in both races to leave Budapest with a solid championship lead under his belt. “It was a great weekend for me, simply perfect. The team did a great job and gave me a fantastic car. I am happy, I could deliver”, Ischer was all smiles.
In race 1, the 16-year-old celebrate a flag-to-flag victory holding off countryman Michael Sauter (Sauter Engineering), while his Jenzer teammate Reno Francot from the Netherlands came third.
In the second race, the Jenzer pair celebrated a 1-2 finish after Sauter had clipped his front wing in the opening stages battling with Ischer for the lead. His subsequent pitstop dropped him to the bottom of the field. 2022 GB4 champion Nikolas Taylor capitalized on Sauter’s mishap and secured his first podium of the season behind Ischer and Francot.
“The opening round went really smoothly. I was very surprised and impressed by the performance of the still very young participants. We are definitely on the right tracks with our Formula 4 series. Many thanks to all our partners and employees for their perfect contribution”, ACCR Czech Formula promoter Josef Krenek said.
In the overall standings, Ischer enjoys a run-away lead with 50 points, followed by Francot (33) and Taylor (27).
ACCR Czech Formula returns with round 2 on May 20/21 at the Red Bull Ring.
