The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is gearing up for an exciting day at Road America, one of the most iconic tracks in the United States, from July 30 to August 2. This year, the traditional Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix transforms into an expanded six-hour endurance challenge, promising thrilling competition.
With a 70-year heritage of endurance, the Wisconsin circuit has witnessed many memorable races. Since 2014, IMSA events have been limited to individual endurance races. This edition marks a significant turn as the fourth round of the 2026 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
An impressive field of 54 cars will compete across the four available categories: 11 Grand Touring Prototype (GTP), 12 Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), 12 GT Daytona Pro (GTD PRO), and 19 GT Daytona (GTD).
The new distance has attracted additional teams, with the return of era Motorsport, Intersport Racing, and JDC-Miller MotorSports to LMP2. In the GTD PRO category, specialized teams like Risi Competizione and Triarsi Competizione join, while Car Blanche returns to GTD after competing in GTD PRO at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Championship battles are intense across all categories. In GTP, drivers are chasing the points leader, the #31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R, which arrives with an impressive streak of six consecutive podium finishes in the 2026 season. In GTD PRO, last year’s winners, Paul Miller Racing, lead by 108 points, with only 60 points separating the positions from second to sixth, leaving little margin for error for the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
In LMP2, competition is tight, with only 113 points separating the top four teams, most recently highlighting CrowdStrike Racing by APR and AO Racing. In GTD, Eduardo “Dudu” Barrichello leads the standings with the #27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin, looking to defend his position after a challenging sixth place at CTMP.
Race coverage will begin on Sunday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. ET on Peacock, with the six-hour endurance race starting at 11:40 a.m. ET.
