Lando Norris remained on top in FP2 of F1 Hungarian GP ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, as Charles Leclerc was third again.

It was mostly sunny in FP2 of F1 Hungarian GP at Hungaroring, as McLaren retained a 1-2 finish where Lando Norris (1m15.624s) was on top again ahead of Oscar Piastri. It was not as smooth for both of them as they had their moments, where they were close just at the end of the session when the Brit at a lock-up.

It includes one moment for Norris on the grass just ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third a bit far off as Aston Martin pair showed good pace to end up in the Top 5. It was Lance Stroll in fourth ahead of returning Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard is battling muscular pain on his back and was replaced by Felipe Drugovich in FP1. He was cleared to compete in FP2 and returned well. Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton was sixth from Russell, as Visa Cash App RB’s Isack Hadjar maintained his good run in seventh.

The Frenchman was slightly agitated by Russell towards the end of the session. Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda was ninth as the lead car, as Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli rounded out the Top 10 in a better run for both the German F1 outfit’s cars after going back to the old suspension.

Haas’ Oliver Bearman was 11th with teammate Esteban Ocon in 13th behind the returning Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg. The German made immediate impact after bringing over some gravel at the onset. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was 14th, as he struggled with balance all-through the session.

He is due to stewards investigation after he potentially threw a towel at the side of the track. Visa Cash App RB’s Liam Lawson was 15th ahead of Williams’ Carlos Sainz, who seemingly had electrical issue towards the end. In fact, his team tried to call him in, but he couldn’t hear it seems like.

He continued on and almost came in Lawson’s way, who was alerted by his team that Sainz lost telemetry and communication. The Spaniard’s teammate Alexander Albon was only 18th behind Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, as Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto rounded the 20 runners.

UPDATE: The stewards warned Red Bull and Verstappen for leaving a towel in the cockpit, which dropped to the side of the Dutchman’s lap, of which the F1 team was unaware of. He tried it to throw it off as far as possible on the track, as the stewards deemed the car to be a case of an unsafe release. They were a bit lenient considering it was not any hard object.
