Lando Norris remained on top in a McLaren 1-2 in FP3 of F1 Hungarian GP with Oscar Piastri close second and Max Verstappen third.
The hot conditions of Friday changed into cool weather in FP3 of F1 Hungarian GP at Hungaroring, but McLaren kept themselves on top with a sound 1-2 finish where Lando Norris (1m16.098s) was 0.044s quicker than teammate Oscar Piastri (1m16.142s).
Having done extensive hard tyre run earlier in the session, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen (1m16.379s) was third which included a Turn 1 lock-up which also caught out Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda.
Mercedes’ George Russell was fourth from Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, with Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo in sixth, Williams’ Alexander Albon seventh and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg eighth, where the Top 8 saw seven different teams feature on the list.
The Top 10 was rounded out by Tsunoda and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who had a late spin at Turn 10 to bring out the yellow flags. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was only 11th from Stake F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas, with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez only 13th.
He had a similar programme as Verstappen but couldn’t hook up a sound lap in the end. He led the two Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll in 14th and 15th respectively, who kept it late for a soft tyre run.
Williams’ Logan Sargeant was 16th from Stake F1 Team’s Zhou Guanyu, who seemingly had transmission issue towards the end. Gasly was 18th as teammate Esteban Ocon ended up 20th after his quick lap was disrupted by yellow flag, to be behind Haas’ Kevin Magnussen.
