Hungarian GP: Leclerc tops FP2 from Norris, Gasly in dry run

Charles Leclerc, F1, Hungarian GP

Charles Leclerc ended up fastest in a dry FP2 of F1 Hungarian GP with Lando Norris in second from Pierre Gasly.

After rain hampered the run in FP1 of F1 Hungarian GP, the FP2 was a dry on where both Red Bull and Mercedes cars did not do a qualifying run to set a fast lap. Ferrari did so with Charles Leclerc on top with a 1m17.686s lap from McLaren’s Lando Norris by 0.015s.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly slotted in third from AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda as the other Alpine of Esteban Ocon slotted in fifth from Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg and Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas. The three teams who are at the bottom had one car inside the Top 7.

The other Alfa Romeo was not bad either in ninth behind Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz completed the Top 10 after his fast lap wasn’t good enough. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was 11th after no fast lap in an interesting move.

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was 12th from Williams’ Alexander Albon who was on top for a brief moment early on. The returning Daniel Ricciardo in the AlphaTauri car was 14th from Haas’ Kevin Magnussen as the lead Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton was only 16th.

Williams’ Logan Sargeant was 17th after his long run at the top after the team elected to do their soft tyre run early on. Red Bull fixed up Sergio Perez’s car who was 18th with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in 19th after there was floor damage on his side of the garage.

Mercedes’ George Russell was 20th. The pair of Alfa Romeo and Mercedes did their fast lap on the medium tyre along with Albon and Piastri.
