Christian Horner knows convergence can happen in the year to come, as he was surprised Red Bull managed to remain consistent amid changing order.

Even with the dominance seen in 2023 F1 season, Horner is certain that there will be a convergence at some point. That is why Red Bull has to continue and is continuing churning up to develop the RB20 and keep its nose ahead of the competition.

They have been working on some of the weaknesses for 2024, however, little they are. They did have the drop in Singapore but that could be taken a bogey circuit of sorts. The determination is still there to push forward and remain in the lead.

“You are always learning,” said Horner to media. “I think with stable regulations, we know that the field will converge. We’ve seen that at different points during the course of the past year. So for us, we have to improve and we have to keep evolving. I think all aspects of RB19 are being looked at to evolve into RB20, and hopefully make it even stronger because I’m sure that’s what our competitors will be looking to do.

“The team has been evolving and evolving. We’re always in pursuit of perfection and always looking to improve. So there’s many things we can improve on from 2023 as I said, with the RB19 – that’s the most successful car in the history of Formula One. Now there’s things that we can make better that we can improve on.

“I think it’s that determination just to keep evolving, keep improving is what drives the whole team forward,” summed up Horner, who shared his surprise over Red Bull remaining consistent throughout the course of 2023, but others couldn’t with the rivals changing from Mercedes to Ferrari to McLaren to Aston Martin and even Alpine sometimes.

“The thing that surprised us was that we really were able to remain consistent,” continued Horner. “But at different stages of the year we had different cars, different teams that were emerging. Aston started the season very strongly, McLaren finished the season very strongly.

“Ferrari were there at certain races, Mercedes likewise, so it was moving around quite a lot behind us but the one thing we were able to control was our own performance and the consistency that we achieved,” summed up Horner.
