Colton Herta has expressed his enthusiasm for the progress made in Formula 2 ahead of the races taking place in Miami. After a challenging start in Melbourne, where an accident during practice, along with a disappointing qualifying session, marked his first days, Herta achieved a notable seventh position in the *feature* race.
“I’ve been enjoying the experience so far,” Herta declared on the F2 website. His adaptation to the category has been characterized by a change in mindset regarding driving. Unlike in other competitions, Herta has had to learn to be more delicate with the car to optimize lap times.
One of Herta’s major challenges has been understanding tire behavior. Initially, he acknowledged that he was looking for performance in the wrong places, but now he is feeling optimistic. “I’ve made considerable progress since day one and I’m satisfied with the results I’m achieving,” he said.
With the reorganization of the championship calendar, which eliminated the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the Miami circuit will host this second round of the season. Herta highlights that this new layout, along with Montreal which will be the venue for the third race, will provide a competitive ground where all drivers will start on equal footing, as none have experience on these circuits.
For Herta, this situation is favorable. “I don’t think it’s a big disadvantage for anyone, but for me, having not previously competed in places like Melbourne, it can be an advantage. We will all be adapting to the track and it could be better for me,” he concluded.
