AJ Foyt Racing has confirmed the signing of Dennis Hauger, the winner of the Rookie of the Year award in IndyCar 2026, for a multi-season contract starting in the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver will take over the number 14 vehicle, equipped with a Chevrolet engine.

Hauger arrived in the United States in 2025, where he dominated the Indy NXT competition with six victories that secured him the rookie title. In addition to his remarkable career in Indy NXT, his European track record includes the 2019 Italian Formula 4 championship, the 2021 FIA Formula 3 title, five wins in FIA Formula 2, and an extensive career with the Red Bull Junior team.

The team president, Larry Foyt, commented that Hauger’s versatility has made him an ideal candidate for the team’s long-term plan. “Dennis has achieved a lot at just 23 years old. Every time he has changed categories, he has adapted quickly and won. His victory in Indy NXT as a rookie caught everyone’s attention, and we have followed his progress during his rookie season in IndyCar,” Foyt stated.

Hauger, who spent his IndyCar season with Dale Coyne Racing, has expressed excitement about this new chapter. “Larry and I have had very good conversations about the team and its future. I have learned a lot during my first years racing in America, but I know I still have a lot to learn and achieve in IndyCar. I am very interested in the future and what they are doing with the number 14 program,” Hauger said.

Hauger’s public presentation with the team will take place on October 2 at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity Gala, an event that will benefit the Medal of Honor Foundation. “I am excited to learn more about Homes For Our Troops and what the number 14 car represents. It is much bigger than the competition, and I want to be a part of that,” the driver commented.

Foyt added the importance of the team’s commitment, noting that they want to continue advancing through investments in their personnel and commercial programs. “Dennis wants to win, and so do we. That is the most important thing,” he concluded.

The signing of Hauger is the first of several announcements expected from AJ Foyt Racing regarding their driver lineup for the 2027 season.
