Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes kept the lead in the second session of free-practice of the Brazilian GP.
The rain forecasted at Interlagos spared the drivers on Friday during FP2. Unusually enough, Antonio Giovinazzi took over Kevin Magnussen’s FP2 run, Haas F1 having been allowed to switch sessions because of the rain.
Once again, Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time with a 1:09.515 ahead of his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull Racing) finished 3rd whilst Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) improved from the morning and ended in 4th place. He was ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), the Finn being 6 tenths away from the Brit.
Esteban Ocon (Force India) was the best of the rest in 7th place ahead of Felipe Massa (Williams), performing quite well for his home week-end. Nico Hülkenberg placed his Renault in 9th place ahead of Fernando Alonso (McLaren) who completed the top 10. The session was only disturbed by Romain Grosjean’s and Marcus Ericsson’s harmless spins.
