After a complicated competition at the Singapore Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has decided to address his followers to reflect on his performance. The Ferrari driver finished the race in sixth position after not following his team’s strategy when he was asked to pit.
Despite the disappointment, Hamilton has acknowledged that he is responsible for the decisions made during the race. In a message shared on Instagram, he expressed: ‘Yesterday was not the result we were looking for, and that is my responsibility. On a track where it’s hard to overtake, I have to make different choices and this strategy did not work.’
The race winner, Max Verstappen, was joined on the podium by Charles Leclerc and the championship leader, Kimi Antonelli. Hamilton has acknowledged that his decision cost him valuable points and that he needs to keep working to improve in the future.
Hamilton, who started the race from third position, was the first to make his pit stop, but chose to stay on the track when a Virtual Safety Car occurred, allowing Leclerc and Antonelli to overtake him during the final phase of the competition.
With the aim of recovering, Hamilton will look forward to the next United States Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from October 23 to 25. With a fighting spirit, he has promised to come back and fight harder in the upcoming races.
