Lewis Hamilton played down any troubles between him and race engineer Riccardo Adami after latest social media trial following the F1 Monaco GP.
The news of rift between Ferrari’s Hamilton and his race engineer Adami isn’t dying down. After initial outburst at the onset of 2025 F1 season, it returned post the Monaco GP. On Saturday, the Brit was certainly unhappy due to a miscommunication which resulted in a three-place grid drop.
That limited his chance to push for a podium finish as he had to recover from seventh to fifth in a difficult track like Monaco. During the grand prix, some of the radio messages seemed like there was lack of information from Adami to Hamilton, who had to ask multiple times about various things.
It seemed from outside that Ferrari was content with fifth since getting fourth against Max Verstappen was difficult. Hamilton, however, wanted to push and gain as much but eventually ended nearly a minute behind the Dutchman. Post-race, he asked if Adami was upset with him.
There was no answer. While Hamilton wasn’t asked extensively about it, team boss Frederic Vasseur played down any trouble and chastised media for making it a big topic. The social media, though, continued the talk, showcasing old examples of difficulties between other drivers and Adami.
When asked about the relationship in Barcelona, Hamilton shut down any rift. He termed it as ‘BS (bulls**t)’, while displaying the goal of winning championships together. “Our relationship is great,” he said to media. “No problems. We’re constantly learning more and more about each other. We’re constantly adapting to the way both of us like to work.
“He’s worked with lots of different drivers before. We don’t have any problems whatsoever. There’s a lot of speculation. I mean, most of it is BS. Ultimately, we have a great relationship. He’s been amazing to work with. He’s a great guy, working so hard, we both are, and we don’t always get it right every weekend. Do we have disagreements?
“Like everyone does in relationships, but we work through them. We’re both in it together. We both want to win a championship together. We’re both working towards lifting the team up. So it’s just all noise, and we don’t really pay any attention to it. So, you know, it can continue if you want, but it doesn’t make any difference to all the jobs that we’re trying to do.”
When directly asked about the post-race radio silence in Monaco, Hamilton concurred what Vasseur hinted about radio issues that they had during the grand prix. “It was literally just there was areas we just had radio problems through the race, didn’t get all the information that I wanted,” he continued. “And yeah, we spoke afterwards.”
