Lewis Hamilton has been confirmed to join Ferrari from 2025 F1 season onward in a shock move as he will depart Mercedes.
Hamilton to Ferrari is always around every time the Brit’s contract is up in the air. It has been the case in recent times but this time it has actually happened. Having signed a two-year deal with Mercedes until 2025 F1 season, the Brit has back-tracked.
He will only serve one year in 2024 and then move away to Ferrari from 2025 onward to join Charles Leclerc. He is a replacement of Carlos Sainz, who hasn’t renewed after rumours surfaced about issues in commitment from both sides.
It is a big time move from Hamilton to Ferrari after denying such things in the past. But with Frederic Vasseur at the helm, things played out well considering the two have gotten along well since the junior days where he was the Brit’s boss.
Hamilton will end his 17-year relation with Mercedes after starting out with McLaren-Mercedes to join Ferrari in a multi-year deal. “Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract,” said the team in a small statement.
