Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the second free practice of the day. His teammate Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel followed him in second and third place respectively.
Things returned to normal in Canada. Lewis Hamilton finished the second practice session in first position. His Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg was second. Sebastian Vettel was third, not far from the times of the first two.
There was no hurry to go out in the first minutes of the session. Kevin Magnussen, Max Chilton and Kvyat were the ones who started the second session activity. They were followed progressively by the other drivers. Jenson Button topped the timesheets after the first few laps, followed by Jean-Eric Vergne and Adrian Sutil.
The Williams came to track and Valtteri Bottas went first, followed by Felipe Massa. The Mercedes cars began to appear shortly after, the second placed Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton third, the German driver achieving the best time in his next attempt.
With both Mercedes drivers standing in the first two positions, Fernando Alonso rose to third place in less than one tenth behind of Hamilton, who was second. His Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen was placed fourth.
After the pit stops began to appear the supersoft tyres. The Mercedes kept the lead, with Hamilton ahead of Rosberg. Ferrari remained behind, also alternating positions, now it was Raikkonen ahead of Alonso. Both drivers were half a second of Hamilton.
During the race simulations, Sebastian Vettel took the third place, slipping between Mercedes and Ferrari. At the end of training, Hamilton was the fastest, followed by Rosberg, Vettel, Alonso and Raikkonen.
