Lewis Hamilton kept the lead in FP2 ahead of Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas in São Paulo.
Kevin Magnussen, who had not raced in the morning and had let his seat to Sergey Sirotkin, was the first one to head out in FP2. Marcus Ericsson spun hard in the early stages of the session and ruined his set of tyres. In the early stages of the session, Daniel Ricciardo was the fastest by 0.3s over Lewis Hamilton and 0.5s over Nico Rosberg.
Half an hours into the session, Felipe Massa claimed the fastest time of the session for his last home race ahead of Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen, just before Valtteri Bottas took the fastest time. On their second stint in soft tyres, Rosberg then Hamilton claimed the fastest time.
Haas cars faced a difficult session as Esteban Gutierrez was stuck in the pits with an engine problem and Romain Grosjean could not control his car at T1. Fernando Alonso also had to stop his car aside of the track after an ERS issue.
With thirty-minutes to go, both Haas could go on track. Many drivers suffered from a lot of tyre degradation. The rest of the session went smoothly except for Fernando Alonso who had not been taken back to his garage and who tried to become a cameraman.
Under the chequered flag, Lewis Hamilton was in the lead ahead of Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas. Massa, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Vettel, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg and Button completed the top 10.
