Lewis Hamilton kept the lead for less than one tenth to Nico Rosberg while Marcus Ericsson had a heavy crash but the driver is ok.

Esteban Gutierrez was the first to head out with intermediary tyres as it rained earlier. Marcus Ericsson even elected wet tyres for his installation lap. Felipe Massa seemed to have a slight engine problem and stayed in. 15 minutes into the session, Sergio Perez was the first driver to head out on slick tyres.

Nico Rosberg headed out on track and was the first one to have a real run as he did not go out in FP2 and also the first with a representative laptime with a 1:33.591. Halfway through the session, only half of the field had set a representative laptime. Felipe Nasr was the first one to spin into the session with no major problem.

With 25 minutes to go, Lewis Hamilton was leading from Rosberg by 0,045s. With twenty minutes to go, Ericsson lost the rear on the kerb and hit the wall just at the pitlane entry, deploying a red flag. The driver was ok although he was taken to the medical center.

The session could resume for five minutes with all the cars going out except Massa, Magnussen, Nasr and Ericsson. While Rosberg improved his time, Hamilton could do better while Vettel seemed to have another gearbox issue crossing the line.

Hamilton led the session for 0.065s to Rosberg. Ricciardo and Verstappen follow with Vettel, Bottas, Alonso, Hülkenberg, Raikkonen and Sainz completed the top 10.
