Melbourne has been the place as this recent years, of the Australian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton took the pole position in front of his teammate Nico Rosberg, the Williams driver Felipe Massa completes the top3, and here it’s what they said:
1st Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes:
“It has been a great start to the weekend, It doesn’t feel like that long since the last race and it was a big rush from all the guys back at the factory to come here and have this performance. I feel incredibly blessed to have to have this car.
“Today we found a good balance and it was just about pushing those laps. It is so much fun when you get into qualifying and push those single laps.”
“We had a difficult start to the season last year, so as a team we are hoping for a better start and for both cars to succeed tomorrow,” he said. “Hopefully it will be a good fight with Nico.”
2nd Nico Rosberg, Mercedes:
“First of all, Lewis was on impressive form today, he did an awesome job and nailed it all the time. For me, the speed was there, I just didn’t get it together – it wasn’t a great day for me. In the long runs, my pace was very strong, so hopefully it can be the other way around tomorrow.
“The car is unbelievable and a pleasure to drive. P2 I have to live with, but it’s still a long day tomorrow.”
“It [the wind] really has a big impact on the car, so we all had to adapt again to it. That’s why it was particularly difficult out there, but my balance was good and the car was really good.”
3rd Felipe Massa, Williams-Mercedes:
“Mercedes have been ahead all weekend so we knew that on pure pace we were fighting for the best of the rest. Qualifying P3 means that we have done a very good job in getting the most out of the car; especially as the Ferrari’s looked strong and were pushing us hard. It will be a tough battle tomorrow so we need to get the start right and have a good strategy to secure a podium and really start the season on a high note.”
