The only problem for the German was again Fernando Alonso who was easily overtaken for the four times world champion.
Meanwhile, Felipe Massa was starring in his comeback race after beating Ricciardo, Perez and Kvyat, ranking seventh on lap 20.

Raikkonen was the first of the leaders to box on lap 26, but the Finn spun with the new tyres as they were still cold. This was perfect for Mercedes to extend the lead before Hamilton entered in boxes for the first time on lap twenty-ninth. Then it was Rosberg who had previously suffered an off-track, but the German trimmed distances with the champion, as this had suffered a stuck brake.
Massa was the only one who had not stopped in boxes on lap 33, with Verstappen. After many attempts, the Ferrari tried to overtake on the chicane in the end of the straight, but Vettel did not have enough room to make the turn, what motivated him to skip the chicane. On the other hand, Hulkenberg, lost control of the car and fell to ninth and Massa took advantage of this golden opportunity to advance positions.
