Lewis Hamilton has clearly dominated the second free practice session of the US GP with a 1:34.668. Behind him there’s more fight, with Verstappen second and Vettel third.
Session started and, as usual, there were no competitive times set during the first minutes. The track had few grip, which caused minor driving mistakes for drivers such as Romain Grosjean, Kevin Magnussen or Lewis Hamilton.
After the first 15 minutes, the time from morning session had been already beaten as Daniel Ricciardo was leading the table with a 1:36.1. Sebastian Vettel was the next one to suffer due to the track conditions and ran into the gravel trap on the same corner than Hamilton and Magnussen.
With the first half hour already on the books. Both Mercedes driver put the ultrasoft tyre and Valtteri Bottas moved up to the top, being the first driver to improve to 1:35. But this lasted short as Hamilton set an astonishing 1:34.6. All drivers put the supersoft as well and the Red Bull and Ferrari drivers got closer to the Mercedes.
Nothing changed and Hamilton took the best time, showing that he’s gonna clearly be the man to beat. Verstappen has finished second three tenths behind, with Vettel third. Qualifying session will be held tomorrow at 16:00 local time.
