Coulthard raised the issue during a conversation about driver movements, and asked Hakkinen how he would handle the situation if he were the director of McLaren. He highlighted the potential complications that could arise from bringing together such competitive drivers as Verstappen and Lando Norris in the same team.
“There are many potential drivers, but I have observed that McLaren always seeks balance within the team. This is the way to achieve success, fostering a great team spirit,” Hakkinen said. The Finnish driver added that for him it would be better to “minimize risk” and maintain the harmony that already exists within the team.
