Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson felt it was not enough for either of them to claw back into points in F1 Bahrain GP irrespective of the strategy.

While the Haas pair made headways in F1 Bahrain GP, both Williams and Visa Cash App RB pair struggled to make solid inroads. Hadjar missed out on Q3 but started close to the Top 10. He lost places at the start and dropped to the back of the grid, leaving him in a bad position.

He tried to climb back via strategy, but it just didn’t work out to be. He has had issues with his starts and it is something he has to work out with the team. “Honestly, since the start of the weekend, our starts have been quite poor,” said Hadjar to media.

“I was not really confident at the race start, and had wheel spin forever. Lost two positions before Turn One and then lost more fighting like hell. It got us in the wrong momentum. I think it was the right strategy but when you’re so far back, it doesn’t bring points, that’s for sure. But I think that if we’d nailed the start, we’d have kept our position with how aggressive we were, [and] the undercut could have paid off.

“It [the start] is definitely tarmac specific, much much slower than the previous tracks, but still we should be able to adapt, every team does it, yeah we need to do a better job,” summed up Hadjar, whose teammate Lawson faced two penalties after multiple contacts to be out of contention for points in any form or shape.

In his second outing with Visa Cash App RB, Lawson is still finding his feet. He concurred with Hadjar that there was no way to be in points after starting from so far back. “From where we started, it was pretty much going to be hard for whole race and I felt like anywhere we could overtake was having a lunge from quite far back, I need to review the incidents, I don’t really remember too much about it.

“It is a shame but we were not on for points anyway,” said Lawson. “To be honest, the bigger shame is that the car was fast all weekend, the car was fast in quali, also in the race especially in the last stint on the soft. But coming from so far back, so it is a shame.”
