Haas expands its presence in NASCAR with the signing of Dean Thompson

The Haas Factory Team announces the addition of a third vehicle for the 2027 season of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Dean Thompson, a 24-year-old young driver, joins the team with the support of the brands Thompson Pipe Group and MCM Transportation.

Currently, Haas competes with cars No. 00, driven by Sheldon Creed, and No. 41, handled by Sam Mayer. Details regarding the new car number and crew chief will be revealed at a later date.

Joe Custer, president of the Haas Factory Team, has expressed his enthusiasm for Thompson’s addition, highlighting his progression in competition and his ability to compete at the highest level. Custer states that this new entry strengthens the organization and its growing affiliate program.

Thompson, who is currently in his second full season in NASCAR competition with Sam Hunt Racing, has accumulated a total of 57 races with one top five and ten top tens, despite not having achieved a victory so far. Additionally, he has 70 starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, with two top fives and eleven top tens.

In his own words, Thompson has expressed excitement for this new stage with the Haas Factory Team, stating his desire to compete for wins and championships with the support of his sponsors.

Thompson’s signing represents a significant step forward from Sam Hunt Racing, considering that Haas has achieved three victories in the NASCAR O’Reilly since its independence from Stewart-Haas Racing in early 2025. Stewart-Haas, during its time as a NASCAR team, totaled 26 wins and the driver title in 2023 with Cole Custer.
