Guenther Steiner, former team principal of the Haas Formula 1 team, has expressed his interest in a possible return to the championship, provided that the opportunity involves an attractive and ambitious project.

Steiner, who gained popularity among fans thanks to the Netflix series Drive to Survive, was replaced as director of Haas in January 2024. Since his departure, the 61-year-old veteran has participated as a regular guest on The Red Flags Podcast and has worked as a commentator in the F1 environment, in addition to taking a stake in the KTM Tech3 MotoGP team.

In a recent interview on the podcast Up To Speed, Steiner stated that he would return to F1 if presented with a project that would allow him to have an active role in its creation. ‘I’m not looking for a job title, but a task that really excites me and challenges me,’ he commented. According to him, he has been involved in multiple projects over the past few years, and each one has posed a personal challenge.

Additionally, he humorously shared his foray into television: ‘I wanted to be as good as David.’ Despite not having reached that level yet, Steiner believes that starting an F1 team may have been easier than adapting to the world of television.
