After a race with several incidents and investigations, Jamie Green has won the second race of the weekend at Lausitzring. Ekström and Wickens accompanied the British driver on the podium.
The race began with 23 ambient degrees and 30 on the track. Wickens kept the top position while Blomqvist tried to overtake him. But a few seconds later, Race Direction opened an investigation because Blomqvist had jumped the start, which turned into five-seconds penalty in his pit-stop.
In the second lap, Ekström and Rockenfeller came into the pits to make their first stop, and Race Direction investigated the German due to an unsafe release.
On lap six, Glock and Wittmann held a small battle for tenth place, which ended with #11 ahead. Soon after, Glock went into the pits to change tires.
After the first 15 minutes of the race, Spengler was the next to go to the pits. Paffett and Auer followed the Canadian. Meanwhile, Wickens continued leading the race, ahead of Jamie Green, Tom Blomqvist, Nico Müller and Maxime Martin.
On lap 16, Wickens decided to go to change tires. After leaving the pits, he came in ninth position. Jamie Green, the provisional leader of the race, also came to change tires, but came out just ahead of Wickens. However, the Canadian overtook him soon.
Around lap 25 Wittmann, Auer and Farfus had a fight in which race direction finished by showing the black/white flag to Wittmann because he made more than one change of direction. Auer was victorious because only suffered a little touch with Wittmann while he was overtaking the German. Despite that, Wittmann overtook Auer in the next lap.
Once all the drivers had stopped, Wickens was running in first place, ahead of Green, Ekström, Paffett, Rockenfeller, Martin Müller, Rast, Wittmann and Auer.
With 15 minutes to the end of the race, Green overtook Wickens in the first corner.
After several laps where the Swede was very close, Ekström made his attack over Wickens with about five minutes remaining. The Swedish driver finally got ahead of the Canadian and took the second position.
On the main straight, Rast overtook Martin and reached the seventh place. At the same time, Paffett was getting very close to Wickens, threatening to steal the third place to the Canadian.
In the end, the checkered flag fell and Green got one more win. Behind him, Ekström finished second and Wickens ended third, but with Paffett very close to him. Rockenfeller, Müller, Rast, Martin, Wittmann and Auer completed the Top 10.
