Great performance by Diego Domínguez and Rogelio Peñate at the 2026 Rally Islas Canarias

Diego Domínguez and Rogelio Peñate delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Rally Islas Canarias, finishing 12th in WRC2 and in ninth position at WRC2 Challenger.

The Domínguez–Peñate duo showed clear progress on asphalt, a surface on which the Paraguayan driver has less experience. Their consistency throughout the rally proved key to securing this result, reflecting both their development and the learning gained over the weekend.

From the opening day, Domínguez and Peñate made a significant step forward in performance on asphalt, allowing them to approach the following stages with greater confidence, aiming to improve on last year’s result.

Not even the rain, which made an appearance on SS10, affected their performance, as they completed the stages without issues while maintaining a consistently competitive pace.

On Saturday, Domínguez and Peñate ended the day with very positive feelings, running at a leading pace in the final stage—an early sign of the potential they would confirm in the closing stages of the rally.

In the final part of the event, the duo set the second-fastest time in both WRC2 and WRC2 Challenger, underlining their strong performance and wrapping up the rally with an encouraging result for the future.

Diego Domínguez (DRIVER): “Very happy. We improved stage by stage and finished the final stage with the third fastest time, a great way to end the rally. The overall assessment is very positive, and we want to thank everyone for all the support and kindness we have received”.

Rogelio Peñate (CODRIVER): “It has been a very positive rally. We improved stage by stage, adapting to the asphalt and finding a good rhythm as the stages went by. The team has done a great job and this result reflects the progress we have made throughout the weekend”.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “Very satisfied with the work of Diego and Rogelio. They have shown a very clear evolution on a demanding surface like asphalt, being consistent and competitive throughout the rally. This result is a good reward for the team’s effort and a solid base to keep growing”.
