The German Grand Prix of MotoGP has arrived with surprises in the qualifying, where Marc Márquez achieved the pole position leading a 1-2-3 for Ducati. The day, however, was marked by the accident of the Italian Marco Bezzecchi, which complicated his title options.

In an impressive performance, Márquez surpassed the Sachsenring circuit record during his last attempt, securing his third pole of the 2026 season. His brother, Álex Márquez, finished just a tenth behind, occupying the second position.

Fabio di Giannantonio completed the trio of Ducati riders with a third position after competing for much of the session for the pole. The Italian brand showed a clear superiority against Aprilia in this decisive round.

The qualifying began with an intense dramatic moment for Aprilia, when Bezzecchi fell to the ground at turn 7 shortly after setting a competitive time, temporarily holding third place. Although he managed to get up unaided, it was evident that he was in great pain as he returned to the pit.

In the next part of the session, Raúl Fernández avoided the yellow flags following Bezzecchi’s accident and set the best temporary time of the session with a 1:19.262 on his Trackhouse Aprilia. However, it was in the last minutes that Di Giannantonio managed to surpass Fernández with a time of 1:19.188.

But Márquez, with a spectacular last lap, discarded his previous best time and achieved a track record of 1:19.041, remaining at the top until the end of the session.

Álex Márquez improved his own mark, leaving Di Giannantonio in third position. Fernández finished fourth, while his teammate Ai Ogura was fifth, completing a good day for Aprilia.

For his part, Fabio Quartararo came out of Q1 to secure a promising sixth position, while Franco Morbidelli qualified seventh, although he will start the race from tenth position due to a penalty for having impeded Pedro Acosta.

The day was tough for the Aprilia team, with Bezzecchi withdrawing after his fall. Jorge Martín could not improve his time, finishing eighth. As for Francesco Bagnaia, he was 11th after leading the first phase of qualifying, while Jack Miller concluded in twelfth position.

The riders will continue their preparations for the race on Sunday, where expectations are high, especially for an in-form Márquez with his recent record.
