The new German Formula 4 launches with 14 teams for 2027

The new German Formula 4, which will start its competition in 2027 as a support for the DTM championship, has presented a promising list of 14 teams. This category, organized by Gedlich Racing, marks the return of Formula 4 to Germany after a four-year hiatus.

Among the confirmed teams, the presence of Comtoyou Racing stands out, which has made history in the DTM with two Aston Martin victories this year. The Belgian team, based in Gembloux, will join this new project without previous experience in formula racing but expects to compete with two cars.

Demand and costs

The demand to participate in this new series has proven to be high, with over 70 applications registered. However, only 36 driving spots were available, forcing the organizers to make a rigorous selection. The entry fees for a seat in this category are slightly above 100,000 euros, while operating costs can exceed 500,000 euros per season.

Highlighted driver teams

Among the new teams, LN4 Fusion stands out, co-founded by young Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. Norris’s beginnings in Germany were notable as he achieved a victory at Spa in 2015. On the other hand, FS Motorsports, founded by former DTM driver Augusto Farfus, is also prepared to compete.

Additionally, the Vanwall F4 Racing project, led by Colin Kolles and Trevor Carlin, aims to introduce up to four cars in the competition, leveraging ByKolles’ infrastructure.
