AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly is the third F1 driver to have tested COVID-19 positive after his travel to Dubai for his training programme.

After McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, AlphaTauri’s Gasly is the third F1 driver to have tested COVID-19 positive during/after his stay in Dubai. The Frenchman had been in Middle East for his training programme in sunny conditions.

It is unclear if Gasly has returned home or is still in the United Arab Emirates. The message from the Frenchman noted about his positive test, where he has already asked his close contact to isolate themselves as he is already doing as per the health protocol.

He did not mention of any symptoms either as the Frenchman is the sixth F1 driver to catch the virus after Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll, Lewis Hamilton, Norris and Leclerc. The winter break has seen a positive case for Mercedes chief Toto Wolff too.

All three are fine now with Norris back in the United Kingdom, while Leclerc has already tested for Ferrari at Fiorano. For Gasly, it will now be about 10-14 days of isolation before he can get to work. His teammate Yuki Tsunoda has done two days of test at Imola.
