Pierre Gasly focused on driving aspect in F1 2025 without expecting too much in return, as he feels he performed strongly throughout the year.
It wasn’t the year that Alpine’s Gasly hoped for but from the get go it was evident that it won’t go as per plans and fighting in the midfield even, will be a tough crack. But he stuck on with it and pushed through to Q3 on multiple occasions to give them a chance to score a point or two.
He succeeded as well to score 22 points in all, which was all that Alpine got. But there were some unlucky moments too, which cost him dearly. He had to adjust his mindset and he focused on just driving the car, without putting too much expectations on the results.
He feels he performed strongly throughout. He was proud of what he could achieve and what the team did for him throughout the year despite the limitations and focus on 2026. “I’ve just tried to take every single weekend one after another without having too many expectations,” said Gasly yo media. “More like focusing on my job as a driver, my input inside the car, my input inside the team.
“I think what has helped me a lot is, it was a very long tunnel the whole season, but knowing what we’re doing for 2026. I’ve always had that sort of light, I could always see the light at the end of the tunnel, which sort of helped me to get through that year. You ask me at the moment, as a season I’ve scored the least amount of points in F1.
“I feel personally I’ve put a strong performance out there, so it doesn’t really bring any satisfaction from it. It’s how the whole season was and yeah looking back I’m still very happy and very proud of how the team managed to end such a season, because when you don’t have a competitive car, it’s very difficult and easy to give up. And nonetheless, despite the tough results inside the office they all still…everyone stuck with it and gave their best.
“So yeah, still very proud of all the guys and all the people working in the team. And I am looking forward to get started for next season. I mean once you put the visor down, you’re just looking on performance and trying to push everything out of the car and it felt very poor. I’m sure there’ll be stuff to review and look at but not too long but next season going to be very different.
“I think we just remember the 10 Q3s, the 22 points we managed to score with that car and still do the overall review of the whole season and what we could have done better, because there’s too many things we could have done better even with our parts. And yeah, move on from there,” summed up Gasly.
