In order to highlight the emergence of young talents at the highest level of Competition, each year the CIK-FIA organises a specific classification for Drivers up to 16 years of age participating in the FIA Karting World Championship and in the FIA Karting European Championship in the OK category for the first time.
Among the thirty Drivers who met these criteria, the Italian Gabriele Mini’ has been remarkably prominent throughout the season. He had the most points in the fight to be named Rookie of the Year 2019.
The young Drivers competing against their elders in the benchmark karting category, OK, regularly occupy a large proportion of the field. Developed in OK-Junior, these youngsters challenge the very experienced Drivers with no difficulty throughout the international season, including former World Champions and European Champions.
This is why the CIK-FIA has decided to highlight the best hopefuls of the year by creating a Rookie ranking that counts all the results obtained in the FIA Karting World Championship and the FIA Karting European Championship – OK for Drivers up to 16 years old in their debut year in the category.
FIA Karting European Vice-Champion – Junior last year, the Italian Gabriele Mini’ (Parolin / TM Racing / LeCont) managed to repeat his achievement in his first year in the top category.
2nd in the FIA Karting European Championship – OK at just 14, he scored 151 points to become the 2019 Rookie of the Year, ahead of Taylor Barnard (KR / Iame / LeCont) with 114 points and Sweden’s Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart / Vortex / LeCont) with 93 points.
