Francesco Bagnaia proposes pre-tests at new circuits to avoid disappointments

Francesco Bagnaia, rider of the Ducati Team, has emphasized the importance of conducting tests at new circuits before MotoGP competitions. These statements come after the recent Brazilian Grand Prix, which was surrounded by evident issues with the new surface of the Goiania circuit.

Speaking from Texas, Bagnaia expressed that the experience in Brazil should not be repeated in the future. “For the future, I think it is absolutely necessary to do a test before arriving at a new circuit,” he stated. According to him, the involvement of test riders is key to detecting potential difficulties before the big event.

The rider avoided excessively criticizing the Brazilian circuit, but acknowledged that the effort to conduct the practices and the race had been notable. “The circuit was beautiful and pleasant, but it was evident that it was not prepared to host us. Nevertheless, we managed to have a normal weekend,” he commented.

Bagnaia also mentioned that the test carried out in Mandalika in 2022 was fundamental to understand the challenges that could arise during the race. “In Indonesia, we were able to detect problems during the test and we adjusted the bikes accordingly,” he recalled. In this context, he pointed out that with pre-tests, teams could better adapt their bikes to the conditions of the new circuit.

Looking ahead to the upcoming races, MotoGP plans to visit two new tracks next season: the Buenos Aires circuit and the Adelaide street circuit. The Italian rider hopes that past mistakes help make future visits safer and more organized.
