Tech 1 Racing announces its four drivers for 2017

The Tech 1 Racing team, 2-time winner of the teams’ championship in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, is today accelerating its preparations for the 2017 season by announcing the young talented drivers who will defend its colours. Gabriel Aubry is continuing with Simon and Sarah Abadie’s outfit and he will be joined by the very promising trio of Thomas Neubauer, Thomas Maxwell and Max Fewtrell.

With 20 victories, two teams’ titles and one drivers’ crown in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Tech 1 Racing is one of the benchmarks in this championship while being actively involved in training young coming talents in motorsport. After 2016 in which Simon Abadie’s men had three drivers in the top 6 in the category, the 2017 vintage looks just as promising.

Gabriel Aubry joined Tech 1 Racing after his third place in the French F4 Championship and he will again be driving for the squad next year. A former member of the FFSA Equipe de France kart team, the 18-year-old Frenchman will be aiming for the top after his season’s apprenticeship in a stable environment.

Alongside him, fellow-countryman Thomas Neubauer will be having his first full season in single-seater racing. After meeting with success in karts Neubauer had his first races in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC as well as in the V de V Series. Hardworking and conscientious he soon scored a podium finish at Magny-Cours giving a glimpse of his future potential.

Thomas Maxwell is looked after Andy Priaulx Sports Management and he will be the first Australian to carry the Tech 1 Racing colours since Daniel Ricciardo. After having learned the ropes in his native Australia and finishing second in the Formula Masters Winter GP, he ended his first year in Europe in seventh place in the BRDC British F3 Championship. Thomas is a very hard worker and is now getting ready to tackle the most prestigious circuits on the ‘Old’ Continent!

Completing the Tech 1 Racing foursome in 2017 is Max Fewtrell. The British driver followed in Lando Norris’s footsteps and clinched the British F4 Championship title thanks to his remarkable consistency. Max is managed by Infinity Sports Management and he will be the first British driver run by Tech 1 Racing since George Russell who scored a victory in his very first weekend with the French team.

Tech 1 Racing and its drivers will spend the winter preparing to bring back the title to the team’s home base in Toulouse.

“I’m very happy with the team of drivers we’re running in the 2017 season,” confirms Simon Abadie. “They combine talent, experience and speed and they’re all hard workers. We’re very happy to be continuing with Gabriel Aubry. Although we didn’t achieve the results we were hoping for this season, we’ve renewed our confidence in each other and winter testing has confirmed that it was the right choice. Alongside him we have an international line-up with Thomas Maxwell, Max Fewtrell and Thomas Neubauer providing a harder-working ambience to meet the needs of the team than was the case this season. Already the alchemy is pretty good and they have but a single aim – victory in both championships. We have two drivers who are ready to fight at the front, and we hope that the other two will quickly match their level once they’ve got the necessary experience.”
