Fourth win for Deletraz in NEC, JKR makes a 1-2-3

Louis Deletraz has achieved the fourth victory of the season in the championship of Formula Renault 2.0 NEC. The Swiss has held the top position from the pole to the end. Jörg finished second and Mazepin third completing a podium 100% of the team Josef Kaufmann Racing.

This race is the first in which the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC makes a format of 3 races. A Race 3 in that Deletraz started from pole position, ahead of Jörg, monopolizing the front row again by Josef Kaufmann Racing.

The race started late, due to an accident in a GT4 race.

At the start, Max Defourny (ART Junior Team) was touched by an AVF and left the race, in front, Deletraz held first place followed by Jörg and Gill. Daruvala (Fortec Motorsports) also suffered problems, in this case in Turn 3 where he suffered a spin. Before finishing the lap Alex Gill left the track in the penultimate corner and fell from third to thirteenth place, this allowed the two Josef Kaufmann Racing to escape from the other drivers.

A Kaufmann team who started to think that getting three of the four cars they have on the podium was possible, as Mazepin began fighting with Sasahara (ART Junior Team) rolling third. He tried to overtake the Russian, in Turn 4, without success.

His teammate, Dries Vanthoor (Josef Kaufmann Racing) was out of track at the same point after breaking the suspension. The Belgian left the race seeing that he could not make it to boxes.

Mazepin tried it very aggressively with a lack of six minutes, the Russian took control inside in Turn 3 and after touching the grass, got to beat Ukyo Sasahara, now 3 Kaufmann were placed on the podium. At the back Callan O’Keeffe (Fortec Motorsports) was also very aggressive, he urpassed the Japanese one lap later. Local driver, Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports) did the same.

Habsburg tried to overtake his teammate Callan O’Keeffe in the final lap for fourth place, but the South African driver defended aggressively and kept the fourth place.

Finally, Kaufmann managed to close a 100% podium of their cars with Deletraz, getting the fourth victory in the championship, a total of 4 of the 7 possible. Jörg finishes second with Mazepin in third.
