The new edition of the Formula 4 Germany championship, which will start in 2027, will attract fourteen teams competing in its inaugural season. This has been confirmed by the series organizer, Gedlich Racing.
Leading the grid is Van Amersfoort Racing, which will compete with four vehicles. This Dutch team has been a fundamental pillar of the previous version of the competition, the ADAC F4, and has achieved three drivers’ titles thanks to Joey Mawson, Jonny Edgar, and Oliver Bearman.
Among the registered teams, the new addition of Vanwall F4 Racing stands out, which will recall the historic name of Vanwall in single-seater racing during 2027. Alongside this, Mathilde Racing also joins with four cars and has worked with the winner of the F1 Academy, Mathilde Paatz, in the early competitions of 2023.
Veterans like Colin Kolles and Trevor Carlin lead Vanwall F4. With over two decades of experience in single-seaters, Carlin has been key in the history of British Formula 3, and his partnership with Kolles dates back to F3 races in Macau and Korea in 2002.
The championship will also host the new formation of LN4 Fusion, created by world champion Lando Norris, who also won a race in the ADAC F4 in 2015 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Two Swiss teams, Jenzer Motorsport and the newcomers FS Motorsports, created by former driver Augusto Farfus, will also participate in the competition. Others that have transitioned to Formula 4 Germany include F4 CEZ teams like STEP Motorsport, Renauer Motorsport, CRAM, and AS Motorsport.
The Belgian teams Comtoyou Racing and PK Carsport, which come from GT and touring car competitions, will also be represented, while drive.solutions is preparing to make its F4 debut in 2027.
The championship has prepared a provisional calendar, with the first race scheduled at Oschersleben from May 7 to 9, which will serve as support for the DTM. Additionally, the Red Bull Ring will host an international race between July 31 and August 1 as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend.
Robin Selbach, managing director of Gedlich Racing, expressed his enthusiasm for the response received: “The massive interest in this championship is a clear indication of the demand for single-seater competition in the region. We have received more than 70 inquiries for potential entries, exceeding our expectations and allowing us to form a very attractive grid for this first season.”
