Ford Racing has successfully completed the first round of testing for its new LMDh, which is preparing for its debut in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) campaign in 2027.
The prototype with Oreca chassis, which will compete in the Hypercar class next year, has completed over 1,000 km at the Paul Ricard Circuit, where it first underwent an initial test to ensure everything was functioning correctly before moving on to a full three-day test.
The drivers Logan Sargeant, Matt Campbell, Tom Blomqvist, and Mike Rockenfeller have alternated at the wheel of the LMDh, powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine derived from the Coyote model. In the pit area, Sebastian Priaulx and Nick Yelloly have prepared to conduct their tests in the coming weeks.
The director of Ford Racing, Mark Rushbrook, stated that going on track for the first time at Paul Ricard is a crucial moment for the team. Every kilometer driven with this vehicle brings them closer to Le Mans and to reclaiming their place at the forefront of endurance racing.
The program will continue with a total of three days of simulator testing at Ford Racing’s headquarters in North Carolina, aimed at verifying the correlation of the data collected in France. In September, Ford will travel to Portimao, followed by test sessions at circuits such as Silverstone, Monza, Imola, Aragon, Austin, and Sebring.
The head of Ford’s Hypercar program in WEC, Dan Sayers, declared that reaching Paul Ricard and completing the initial test is one of the thousands of goals they had set.
