Max Defourny took pole position for race 1 in a wet Silverstone for the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. The Belgian went over the championship leader and team mate Will Palmer, while Chaves completes TOP3.

As usual, qualifying was divided in two groups. In first, the fight for the pole position was between championship leader Will Palmer (R-Ace GP) and his rival Robert Shwartzman (R-Ace GP). After exchanging first position in more than one occasion, Formula 1’s driver younger brother took provisional pole with a 1:58.624, just 14 thousandths faster than his team mate.

The second group featured more equality, while complicated situations such as a Full Course Yellow (FCY) would show up. This was caused by Luis Leeds (Josef Kaufmann Racing) as Renault Junior Driver Jarno Opmeer (MP Motorsport) lost control of his single-seater.

At the end the pole position was played between Max Defourny (R-Ace GP) and Henrique Chaves (AVF), with the first earning a time 1,43 tenths faster.
